I'm looking for pictures of the camp in Emblem, Olen, Broechem, Tielen and Grobbendonk. The last two months, the photographer Stefan Dewickere visited these camps to make pictures how it looks today. But it makes us curious how it all looked when it was still beautifull and taken care off. Can anyone help me? Emblem camp will soon become a large training place for firemen. They will tear down the sheds and turn the usefull buildings into houses for heat training and other things. So we were just in time to take pictures of the "ruins" of the camp. Broechem is now an asylum for refugees. And in Grobbendonk you can find the Belgian army. So, if you have pictures of these places, this would be a great help.

Can you tell me: are this pictures of the special transports of tanks from the harbour of Antwerp (Kaai 326) to Het Loo or to the harbour of Zeebrugge? May I use some of them in the book?

I believe it was 602 Transporter Sqn and was mostly manned by Belium civilians from the docks to Het Loo and probably onwards?
We have Vehicle Specialists about who could tell you more.

Any photo sent to and uploaded by me I presume was on a public domain basis.

I know, but I don't like using pictures without asking permission. I don't want to offend anyone.

I will have to rely on members claiming ownership.

I think the tanks were shipped through Antwerp, I could'nt be certain for as Geoff said it was a civilian operation, but I certainly drove Scorpion and Scimitar light tanks from Antwerp docks.

There was a Vehicle Transit Platoon (VTP) which unloaded all the Landing Ships Logistics (LSL,S) at Antwerp Docks and occasional Zeebrugge. The platoon was a mixture of civilians and military and about 30 strong in 77-80 when I worked the docks. We would load the tanks onto the Transporters or railflats for onward transmission to Germany. Most of the other vehicles would be driven to Olen to await collection or delivery by VTP to M/Gladbach
The civilian foreman was called Mon Theunen and he was well respected by all the Military and Civilian alike.
